There are some 60 islands, islets and cays all fairly close.With regular ferry services between the main islands it is possible to explore the uniqueness of each island, and discover tucked-away coves and quirky beach bars. Also often called the “sailing capital” of the Caribbean, the clear, calm waters make for a superb day’s sailing trip, and it is possible to visit several islands in one day and find the perfect hideaway or beach at which to anchor.

The capital of the British Virgin Islands, Road Town, is located on the island of Tortola and is the only town of any size at all.Here are several shops, a supermarket, a number of bars and a restaurant. Tortola also offers the opportunity for island hopping, with ferry links to Peter Island, Jost Van Dyke and Virgin Gorda, as well as the U.S.Virgin Islands. The hotels featured are located on
the islands of Virgin Gorda and Peter Island.

On Virgin Gorda, just eight miles in area and a protected National Park, life proceeds at a slow pace.Virgin Gorda has a hilly, dry terrain with cactus plants, and is bordered by spectacular white sand beaches and a turquoise sea, wonderful for swimming, sailing and diving. The Baths area is of special note, with its unusual landscape consisting of immense boulders and grottos.

Peter Island is a 1000-acre private island and home to Peter Island Resort. It has a tiny population and offers isolated, palm-fringed beaches, great views out into Sir
Francis Drake Channel and excellent picnic spots.
