AntiguaLuxury Antigua and Barbuda Holidays

Our holidays offer you exclusive and luxury accommodation in Antigua and Barbuda. We have a wide range of accommodation packages and tailormade holidays to Antigua and Barbuda.

Historical forts, sugar mills, museums and harbours may not sound like your idea of a typical tropical holiday destination but, put them together on a Caribbean island along with 365 sweeping white sand beaches and coves, one for everyday of the year, and you have Antigua and Barbuda, otherwise known as the ‘Heart of the Caribbean’. But the beach is only the beginning in Antigua. We think you'll also love the opportunity to explore the island's other places of interest, many of which
are closely linked with our own British history.

Did you know....?
Fig Tree Drive is in fact named after the banana trees – Antiguans call bananas ‘figs’. If an Antiguan says to you "later will be greater or just plain later" he or she means "good-bye." The Duran Duran music video for their single Rio was shot in Antigua.

Food & Drink
Antigua's national dish is ‘fungi & pepperpot’ – a thick vegetable stew with salted meat. Ducana (sweet potato dumpling) is served with saltfish and ‘chop up’ (mashed aubergine, okra and seasoning). Drinks made from local Antigua Black pineapples, coconuts, guavas and mangoes are delicious as are local sweets such as tamarind balls.Cavalier rum is produced locally as is Wadadli beer.

Restaurants
We like Le Bistro, serving authentic French cuisine, and The Home restaurant for local cuisine of a high standard. Enjoy a swim as lunch is prepared at the casual OJ's at Johnson's Point or Turner's Beach Bar & Grill. Creole seafood is served at Papa Zouk or try one of Antigua’s latest restaurants,The Cove, perched on the cliff at Boon’s Point.

Getting There

Suggested Activities
Take a catamaran or yacht cruise to experience the best of the many beaches. Antigua is known as ‘the heart of the Caribbean’– fly to one of Antigua's neighbouring islands such as Dominica, Montserrat or Nevis. Visit Nelson's Dockyard and English Harbour, a thriving yachting centre and historic site – Admiral Lord Nelson made English Harbour his base in the 18th century. The Capital of Antigua, St John’s is worth a visit with the Anglican Cathedral towering above the skyline and the pretty, colourful shops around Redcliffe Quay. Hire a jeep and drive through the rain forest, past sugar mills and churches, as you take in the scenic Fig Tree Drive or explore the mangroves by Kayak on an Eco tour.

Children's Choice: visiting children are welcome to join in the Carnival that takes place in August (ideal timing for the school holidays). Or experience the unique ‘Stingray City’ - a chance to swim with, feed and touch these majestic
sea creatures.
